Republic Square - Yerevan, Armenia
In the early morning hours, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan makes an announcement on Facebook that he has signed an agreement with Azerbaijan and Russia to end the war.
For the many Armenian citizens who heard Pashinyan's announcement, the terms and conditions of the cease-fire appear to be a capitulation for surrender and signal a devastating loss of the war they were led to believe the Armenian military was winning.
Thousands of shocked, outraged, and angry citizens stream into the main square in the Armenian capital.
A small group among the first protesters to arrive at the square shatter windows and kick down the doors of the main government building. They make their way inside, searching for any officials they can hold accountable.
Throngs of others from all cross-sections of the country’s population gather in front of the building to vent their anger at the political leadership… and at each other.
